Teawith Kettle: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Designed by Keren Hu - UDL and Liu Fang - Teawith, the kettle redefines tea serving aesthetics.

Teawith Kettle, a unique blend of oriental aesthetics and modern lifestyle, is a testament to the innovative prowess of designers Keren Hu - UDL and Liu Fang - Teawith. The kettle, designed to sit naturally on a tea table, offers an elegant tea experience that fits seamlessly into the modern way of living.

The inspiration for the Teawith Kettle came from the designers' love for tea and their observation of the lack of well-designed kettles in the market. Traditional iron teapots, while beautiful, were not convenient for everyday use, and the mainstream western-style electric kettles were designed for kitchen use and not suitable for tea serving.

The kettle's unique properties lie in its ability to create a quiet and unique tea experience. The Oriental arched handle offers a classical elegant outline, reminiscent of Western design. The kettle is turned on with a simple press on the handle, a fluid and unconscious action. The narrow spout offers excellent control of water flow, ensuring a clean and pleasant brewing experience.

The Teawith Kettle is made of stainless steel, with an aluminum overhead handle and a kirsite metal base. The handle's curve is specially designed for a comfortable and effortless grip. The kettle has a capacity of 550ml and can boil water in 200 seconds with very little noise.

The design project started in November 2014 in Beijing, China, and the prototype was released on Milan Design Week 2016. The kettle went into mass production at the end of 2017 and was exhibited in Good Design Tokyo in October 2017, and Good Design Exhibition in Thailand in January 2018.

The kettle was designed after extensive research into the changing lifestyles and shrinking living spaces. The designers visited many heavy tea drinkers in different cities to understand their needs and how they drink tea within the modern lifestyle. The kettle was awarded the Golden A' Home Appliances Design Award in 2019 for its innovative design and functionality.
